I’ve studied three years of Mathematics at the University of Cambridge, soon to go back after the summer for Part III to specialise in continuum mechanics. After starting in academia on a more pure-mathematical track I’ve come to enjoy my courses in fluid dynamics and waves the most, which has brought me both to my masters year topics and to my UKAEA internship with Full Matrix. My summer project, supervised by Maxim, is based on numerical simulation of guided waves and helping to upgrade our finite element analysis software to deal with simulating extreme temperature conditions and potentially other interesting new challenges.
