Fusion Digital Twin
A UKAEA-funded concept-to-validation effort to build a real-time digital twin system for fusion pipework condition monitoring.
Through two phases of UKAEA's Fusion Industry Programme, we developed and validated a prototype digital twin for pipework monitoring. This system integrates ultrasonic EMAT sensors with finite element models and AI-based classification, allowing predictive insight into pipe health.
TRL progressed from 2 to 5–6 over 18 months. The platform includes uncertainty-aware defect detection and is designed for harsh environments with extreme thermal and radiation demands.
